ConnectUs - High Speed Rail

The grassroots organization ConnectUs includes the leadership of the Central Florida Partnership, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Tampa Downtown Partnership, Tampa Bay Partnership, and everyday Floridians who are interested in more transportation options to connect the state's major cities.  Together they are working to promote the importance of high speed rail throughout Florida.

The federal economic stimulus package (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) included an $8 billion investment for the initial segments of a nationwide high speed rail network.  The federal vision for high speed rail in America represents the first national transportation vision since the Interstate Highway System in 1956.

The Florida Department of Transportation recently submitted four applications for federal rail funding.  To view the applications, go to http://www.dot.state.fl.us/planning/economicstimulus.
