Congratulations to Waterford Elementary School and Progress Energy Florida for leading the way in clean air partnership.

Each year, the Clean Air Team awards a deserving business or organization in Orange, Osceola, or Seminole County with the Clean Air Award.  Judging is based on innovation and uniqueness; the direct or indirect effort to reduce emissions; providing a model for others to follow; and sustainability.

The recipient for the 2008 Clean Air Award is Waterford Elementary School/Progress Energy.  Through Progress Energy Florida's Solarwise for Schools program, solar panels were installed at the school in December 2007.  Although, the panels help to alleviate some of the costs associated with the school’s utility bill, the real value is the educational component it brings to the students.  The students will now have the opportunity to learn more about renewable energy and understand the benefits to their school.

The Award ceremony was held at Waterford Elementary School on May 8, 2008.  To view photos from the event please click here http://www.flickr.com/photos/26411982@N07/sets/72157605056325022/.
