Asthma Walk

METROPLAN ORLANDO has partnered with the American Lung Association on their signature fundraising event, Asthma Walk, since 2002.  In view of both organization's commitments to cleaner air, the partnership was a natural fit.  This partnership was originally founded through the Clean Air Team whose main goal is to encourage habits that improve air quality in the community. 

This year, METROPLAN ORLANDO is proud to participate as the Corporate Team Chair for this exciting event. The Orlando Asthma Walk will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Blue Jacket Park, in the Baldwin Park community, at 9:00 a.m.

Nearly 22 million Americans suffer from asthma. Over six million of those are children under the age of 18. Asthma is the number one cause of school absenteeism and is believed to cause over 4,000 deaths annually. Contribution to the 2007 Orlando Asthma Walk will help to raise funds to place asthma education programs in all of Central Florida elementary schools by year 2010.
