City of Orlando Bike Corral

Mayor Dyer joined District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart to celebrate the newly-installed bicycle corral in the Ivanhoe Village Main Street District, a joint project between Ivanhoe Village, the City of Orlando and Florida Department of Transportation. The project transformed a single vehicle parking space into a parking area for 14 bicycles, promoting a bicycle-friendly environment and providing residents with another parking option when visiting businesses in the Ivanhoe Village Main Street District. The bicycle corral is the first of its kind on a state road in Orlando and in Florida.

Speakers' Bureau: Winter Park Rotary

MetroPlan Orlando spoke to members of the Winter Park Rotary about the upcoming changes to Central Florida's transportation system and the latest updates on SunRail.

Quiet Zone Diagnostic Review

Quiet zone diagnostic reviews were held with officials from the Federal Railroad Administration, Florida Department of Transportation and local governments along the SunRail corridor. Thirty-one miles (96 crossings), all in Phase 1 of the project, from DeBary in Volusia County to Sand Lake Road in Orange, were assessed by each respective jurisdiction’s planners and engineers. The review helped to determine where and what type of additional safety engineering improvements are necessary to effectively reduce the risk associated with silencing the train horns. It is the intent of many of the cities along the corridor to have quiet zones in place by the time the first train leaves the station. The next step in the process is for each jurisdiction to weigh the economic feasibility of the options presented.
