MetroPlan Orlando Board Elects 2010 Board Officers

ORLANDO, FL – The MetroPlan Orlando Board recently elected new officers to lead the transportation planning organization in the coming year.  Orange County Commissioner Bill Segal will serve as the MetroPlan Orlando Board Chairman, overseeing activities for the 19-member board.   Segal first joined the board in December 2004.

“This is a defining moment for transportation efforts in our region,” Segal noted.  “As passenger rail projects like SunRail and high speed rail transition from plan to reality, there is a tremendous amount of work necessary to create a strong foundation for Central Florida’s future transportation system.”

As board chair, Segal indentified three priorities for 2010:  (1) take necessary steps to implement the recently-adopted 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan, (2) increase efforts to improve transportation funding in Central Florida, particularly when it comes to rate of return at the federal and state level and discretionary dollars, and (3) improve pedestrian safety in the region.

Seminole County Commissioner Bob Dallari was elected vice chairman and Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington was elected secretary/treasurer for the MetroPlan Orlando Board.  All terms run through December 2010.
