Spring 2017 Planning Internship

MetroPlan Orlando will provide a spring semester internship opportunity between January 2017 and Summer 2017.  The exact dates will be determined when a person is selected for the position. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week).

Our preference for this position is a graduate student (or recent graduate of a Master's level program) with a strong academic background in transportation planning or land use planning. Demonstrated interest in Complete Streets and public health planning is preferred. Some work experience, a prior internship or activities showing a strong commitment to the industry are big pluses.

The intern will assist MetroPlan Orlando staff with plans and projects to support a regional multimodal transportation system that safely and efficiently moves people and goods through a variety of options that support the region's vitality. The primary focus of the internship will be on the Corrine Drive Complete Streets Study. Over the course of the internship, the individual will perform the following functions:

  • Research and analyze existing plans and policies governing the Corrine Drive corridor
  • Assist with quantitative data collection
  • Develop the Existing Conditions Report, which includes establishing issues, opportunities, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data for the study area
  • Assist MetroPlan Orlando communications team with events and other public involvement activities
  • Contribute to visioning and establishment of evaluation criteria for Corrine Drive alternatives
  • Attend meetings with staff, project visioning team, and other stakeholders

Other tasks and duties may also be needed from time to time.

Federal law requires MetroPlan Orlando to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all persons hired to work in the United States. MetroPlan Orlando will provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee’s Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
